Acer Aspire One - Project Details

Many may or not know, I picked up an Acer Aspire One "Netbook"

it's probably the most basic model you can get, I got it off Woot for like 295$

so aside from it being slightly dealish, it was something I was comparing notes on with other EEPC/WIND/et al type "netbooks" in recent months.

ASUS eepc : http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&l2=164

MSI Wind : http://www.msimobile.com/nblist.aspx?series=White

Acer Aspire One : http://us.acer.com/aspireone/

HP, and others make simular products. but price range was a concern.

PROJECT DETAILS

Project Name : Acer Aspire One Upgrade Project

Components: 1 Acer Aspire One Netbook, with 512 meg ram, and an 8gig slow SD card for data storage. (os/user files)

I purchased for 16$ off Newegg, a 1 gig stick of ram, designed for this netbook, it's a little tough to upgrade this thing, its not impossible tho.

I'v found a few hacks for this thing, and this forum of course lists a few of the trials and tribulations of such a neat little netbook.

expect me to carry this around.

ZENKO - note to self, thanks for the stickers, I got placement in mind already.

There is a blue tooth upgrade"HOWTO/FAQ" that will add blue tooth to the device, and honestly this sounds kinda like a neat add on.

I'm looking into upgrading the battery on this for extended use, but I'm seriously considering the concept of not, it has a power cord, electricity is probably available everywhere I go, for at least as long as I need it.

so the question does arise, do I really need a battery upgrade?

I'll determine that later.

if anyone else is interested in assisting me with this project, minor upgrades, os tweaks.

The OS is a flavor of Fedora from what I'm reading, it uses fedora repos for package management -

Doesn't mean it can't change tho, if someone puts out a Ubuntu build for this beast I may be tempted to try it. but I want specs on what sizes it is ect..

speaking of space :

Upgrading this is actually quite easy.. you add on a minisd card and it automatically binds it to your user space
